-- Developer Ecosystem — Do you thrive on variety, collaboration, and facilitating solutions to hard software engineering challenges? Are you looking to continually apply the best practices of your craft with peers from multiple areas of Software Development across multiple internal and external partners? Partner Engineering is a role focused on improving our software ecosystem. Some of the ways it can be improved is by working closely with our partner external software developers, helping them land technology transitions and stay modern with platform best practices. Our team listens to their requirements, goals and enhancement requests and translates those into improvements in our own APIs or features when applicable. We work with our internal teams to understand what’s needed of our external partners as we develop new technologies and products, and then work with those partners to find the most efficient way to meet those needs. Translating this knowledge into more clearly defined features, APIs, samples, patches or new direction are possible paths to success in the team!

Vector Engineering, Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard | Software Engineer, Data Science, Data Viz | Full Time | Cambridge, MA | REMOTE/ON-SITE | https://vector.engineering
The vector engineering group at the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at the Broad Institute is a technology development laboratory focused on engineering gene delivery vehicles to address specific needs of the neuroscience community.
Viral vectors have proven incredibly useful for studying the diversity of cell types and connectivity within the nervous system. The team applies high-throughput selection and screening to engineer recombinant viruses that enable more efficient and selective gene transfer to defined cell types in the CNS. The ultimate goal of these efforts is to develop treatments for psychiatric disorders by supporting hypothesis testing in a variety of model systems.
Additionally, we are developing https://covidcg.org, a platform for analyzing mutations in emerging SARS-CoV-2 strains in a location and date-specific manner. Tracking the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 will be crucial in developing/adapting diagnostics, evaluating policy interventions through tracking the spread of specific SARS-CoV-2 isolates, and monitoring the effectiveness of vaccines/therapeutics as they are implemented over the next few years.
We are looking for a software engineer (entry-level ok) with high attention to detail and a passion for developing tools to aid with the current COVID-19 pandemic and to advance gene therapy development. This position will be adding features to the https://covidcg.org application, as well as developing internal tooling to process, analyze, and visualize sequencing data from over 100 million virus variants.

Radix Labs | Software Engineers esp. Front End Engineers | Cambridge, MA, USA (Boston area) | Full Time and Co-Op/INTERNS Biology has talented PhD Biologists spend 5 hours a day on hard to reproduce, unoptimized minutia that isn’t innovative. Radix Labs hopes to accelerate biotech innovation like early compilers did for computing by enabling lab protocols to seamlessly operate and be optimized across physical labs. Our software makes biology reproducible, faster, more efficient, and lets smart biologists focus on the science instead of managing the implementation. We do this by developing a compiler, operating system, scheduler, and device drivers for biology labs and protocols. We have funding from Ycombinator (S18), Firstminute Capital, MIT's The Engine, and Nikesh Arora.
Technologies: 100% Scala code base but we don't require you know it already. (It's helpful if you have past functional programming experience with Erlang, Ocaml, Prolog, Haskell, or similar.) Other tech: HashiCorp stack (Nomad, Consul, & Terraform), Apache Kafka, Akka, ScalaJS React, Z3, Cats, Bazel w/ rules_scala, (some) AWS.
We'll hire smart, good people who are interested in working with us regardless of openings. Right now we're especially looking for a brave, experienced front end developer to lead developing our front end visual programming language that biologists use to describe their protocols to the rest of our software. We're also happy to hire people who are interested in working on compilers and virtual machines for biology labs. Come join our world-class diverse, inclusive, and caring team! You won't be the only woman, trans person, POC, latino/a/x, non-US citizen, wearer of silly hats, or parakeet! We will consider remote candidates and those who need visa sponsorship on a case-by-case basis. We offer equity, great salary, unlimited PTO, medical, dental, and vision insurance, mechanical keyboard budget, and flexible work hours. Any questions, send me an email: halie at radix.bio
