Ride with GPS | Senior Backend Engineers needed for Rails and Mapping teams | Portland or Remote USA | Full Time | https://ridewithgps.com/about
We are the world's largest library of bike routes, and we enable cyclists to go on better rides, more often. We have a website and mobile apps that allow riders to discover the best riding in their area, and get turn by turn navigation using either our mobile apps or the bike computer of their choosing. Come join us in taking Ride with GPS to the next level! We have two openings right now:
- Rails / API engineer (about to close to new applicants): https://ridewithgps.com/careers/backend_engineer - Support new feature development for all our teams, and scale our API to our next 10 million users. Rails monolith, in addition to supporting microservices. Pragmatic, solutions oriented, high impact.
- Mapping Engineer: https://ridewithgps.com/careers/mapping_engineer - Rust experience strongly preferred. Build and maintain high performance map related tool chains, and work with our extensive geospatial data to identify the best areas to ride. Visualize all of our rides with high performance heatmapping code written in rust: https://ridewithgps.com/heatmap. Use our rider data to identify the popularity of roads in OSM, add as custom weights to the graphhopper routing project, enabling popularity based routing. If we had a skunkworks department, this would be it.
Instructions available at https://ridewithgps.com/careers. Send resume + cover letter to careers@ridewithgps.com with an optional brief paragraph about your relationship to cycling or the outdoors. Riding bikes is not required, but we do find it helps!
