University of Washington Astronomy / LSST | Seattle | Full-Time

When LSST — the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope — begins operations in 2022, it will carry out the largest astronomical survey ever undertaken: it will observe more asteroids, stars, galaxies, and quasars than all previous telescopes combined. Over the course of its ten year program, it will take hundreds of petabytes of images, generate billions of real-time alerts of transient and variable sources, and produce a dataset with profound and lasting impacts on a wide range of different areas of astronomy and astrophysics.

My group at the University of Washington is building the real-time scientific data processing pipelines for LSST. We're looking for a C++ / Python developer to join our team. Full disclosure: we're an academic institution, and we're never going to go toe-to-toe in terms of salary with some of the tech giants (although we'll do our best to make you a good offer).
