Virtasant is both a cloud optimization company (roles available for that area too!) and a staffing agency for some of our clients - they trust us to find the best candidates to join their teams.
For this role, you can own and scale a modern healthcare data platform — building core services, automation, and observability that power real-world patient and provider outcomes, fully remote, with long-term impact.
Long-term, no-end-date 1099 contract. US citizens or Green Card holders only, sadly (legal reasons).
5 yoe (5 of which building production-grade data or platform services), Python, SQL, AWS, dbt, Snowflake (or BigQuery or Redshift), Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake (or Iceberg or Hudi), Airflow, CI/CD, Docker.

Thank you!
We secure the SaaS apps companies actually run on: M365, Salesforce, and hundreds more. You’d be on the Threat product team working full-stack. That means browser extension code (content/background scripts, manifest v3, message passing), backend services chewing through millions of events, and the data pipelines feeding our detection engine. One day you’re in TypeScript debugging why a content script won’t capture form submissions on some vendor’s weird SPA. The next you’re in Python fixing a Kafka consumer that’s falling behind. Sometimes you’re in Rust optimizing a hot path in the telemetry collector.
Big current focus is shadow AI, i.e. catching when employees paste sensitive data into ChatGPT, Claude, or whatever LLM showed up this week. You’d build the systems that detect it.
Looking for ~8+ yrs experience, real browser knowledge (DOM, event loop, SPA routing, CORS, not just “I used React”), prior browser extension work, strong TypeScript, comfortable in Python, willing to write Rust, plus data-at-scale chops (event streaming, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Kafka). Bonus: AI security (prompt injection, exfiltration), detection engineering/SIEM, or security tooling.
Apply via the link above, or see all our open roles at https://www.obsidiansecurity.com/careers
CHEERS.FAN #1 is an early-stage company exploring infrastructure challenges involving real-time coordination, distributed systems, and large-scale interactive experiences.
We are currently evaluating founding engineers in three areas:
1. Distributed Systems & Platform Engineering
Building reliable, scalable systems involving distributed coordination, event-driven architectures, cloud infrastructure, networking, and high-concurrency platforms.
Relevant experience may include Go, Rust, Kafka, NATS, Kubernetes, Redis, AWS, WebRTC, or related infrastructure technologies.
2. Real-Time Synchronization & Timing Systems
Building systems where timing accuracy, synchronization, low-latency communication, deterministic behavior, and real-time coordination matter.
Relevant experience may include PTP, IEEE 1588, TSN, distributed synchronization, networking, embedded networking, or performance-sensitive systems.
3. Edge & Embedded Infrastructure Engineering
Building infrastructure operating close to hardware, networking, operating systems, wireless systems, and performance-sensitive environments.
Relevant experience may include embedded Linux, device networking, wireless systems, edge computing, telecommunications infrastructure, networking platforms, or embedded systems development.
We are particularly interested in engineers who enjoy solving difficult problems involving scale, performance, resilience, reliability, synchronization, networking, and distributed coordination.
Candidates located in the United States are preferred.
If this sounds interesting, we'd welcome a conversation.
