Hey HN! I'm Alexander, one of the founders of Hatchet. Hatchet is an open-source platform for running background jobs at scale.
We're hiring engineers who are excited to build the next class of engineering primitives, starting with queues, background tasks and durable execution. We started in early 2024 after launching our distributed task queue (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39643136).
Hatchet is currently used by thousands of engineers for all kinds of workloads: log ingestion pipelines, code review agents, video encoding, GPU scheduling, etc. Our target customer is fast-growing startups who have a strong need for background jobs system. These days, that tends to be AI companies, though we're general-purpose and not exclusively targeted for AI workloads.
Stack: Postgres, Go, Typescript, React, Kubernetes
Applying: email me at alexander@hatchet.run and tell me about something impressive you've built, along with your CV and why you're interested in Hatchet.
Note that we're fully open-source, which you can check out here: https://github.com/hatchet-dev/hatchet (and if you have thoughts / opinions / questions about the codebase, please include those in your note!)
Lantern is building AI-powered revenue intelligence—autonomous agents that turn cold outreach into warm conversations. We detect buying signals across your tech stack, prioritize opportunities, and help B2B sales teams focus on deals that actually close. We're early, agentic-first, and moving fast.
Senior Software Engineer: You'll own complex technical problems end-to-end—translating customer needs into scalable architecture, optimizing AI model efficiency through prompt engineering, and shipping features that directly impact how revenue teams operate. We want bold ideas and people who push boundaries.
Junior Software Engineer: You'll work across our stack (Python, FastAPI, Next.js, React) alongside senior engineers, contributing to real features from day one. Great fit if you're hungry to learn, ship fast, and grow with a startup building cutting-edge agentic systems.
New Grad Software Engineer: Entry point for recent grads excited about AI and agentic systems.
You'll get hands-on experience with our modern data stack (Postgres, ElasticSearch, ClickHouse, DuckDB), Kubernetes/AWS deployment, and Temporal.io, pi.dev, context engineering, workflow orchestration while shipping production code.
This role is based in our Manhattan office (4 days/week in-person). Full health and dental coverage.
Apply: https://forms.gle/kEi5MDDiaJKdyN3fA or email maksym at withlantern.com with your resume.
We're a VC-funded startup (recently raised $51M Series C) building an infrastructure orchestrator and collaborative management platform for Infrastructure-as-Code – from OpenTofu, Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation, Pulumi, Kubernetes, to Ansible.
On the backend we're using 100% Go with AWS primitives. We're looking for backend developers who like doing DevOps'y stuff sometimes (because in a way it's the spirit of our company), or have experience with the cloud native ecosystem. Ideally you'd have experience working with an IaC tool, i.e. Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, or SaltStack.
Overall we have a deeply technical product, trying to build something customers love to use, and have a lot of happy and satisfied customers. We promise interesting work, the ability to open source parts of the project which don't give us a business advantage, as well as healthy working hours.
If that sounds like fun to you, please apply at https://careers.spacelift.io/jobs/3006934-software-engineer-...
You can find out more about the product we're building at https://spacelift.io and also see our engineering blog for a few technical blog posts of ours: https://spacelift.io/blog/engineering
At FusionAuth, our mission is to make authentication and authorization simple and secure for every developer building web and mobile applications. We want devs to stop worrying about auth and focus on building something awesome.
There are a lot of companies in the auth space, but we feel like we have something special:
* a relatively unique deployment model (self-host on-prem, run in your cloud or let us operate it for you in ours)
* A well designed API first approach; one customer compared our APIs to petrichor
* a mature product (the code base is nine+ years old and we've found and fixed a lot of the sharp edges around core login use cases; but don't worry, there are plenty more features to add)
* a full featured free-as-in-beer version which makes the sales cycle easier; prospects often come in having prototyped an integration
Our core software is commercial. We open source much of our supporting infrastructure. Technologies and standards that you will work with: modern Java, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, MySQL, OAuth, SAML, OIDC.

Deep learning transformed text and images but mostly skipped tables, even though they're behind most clinical trials, financial models, and scientific experiments. The reason is structural: no natural sequence, no spatial structure, no shared vocabulary across datasets, so the architectures and scaling laws behind LLMs don't transfer. We're building the foundation-model approach for tabular data. We started with TabPFN. v2 was published in Nature and set a new state of the art on tabular benchmarks; since release we've scaled capabilities ~20x and crossed 3M+ downloads and 6k+ GitHub stars. The hard problems are still open: scaling to millions of rows, low-latency inference, new data modalities, and the infrastructure to run all of it in production.
Open roles: - Senior ML Infrastructure Engineer - own multi-cluster GPU infra (Slurm on GCP today, multi-provider next), training performance, and the tooling layer. We spend tens of millions/year on compute; you own that budget. Train your own architecture if you've got one. - ML Engineer, Cloud Platform - design and scale the backend and infra that serve and finetune the models. Python/FastAPI, Terraform, K8s. - Full Stack Engineer, ML Platform - build the product end to end, data upload through inference. TS + Python, React/FastAPI/Postgres. - Research Scientist, Foundation Model - drive the model agenda: novel architectures, scaling 10K to 1M+ samples, multimodal and causal directions. PhD + top-venue publications or equivalent.
Also hiring: Applied Scientist, Forward Deployed ML Engineer, Developer Relations Engineer, AE, BDR.
30-person team with backgrounds from Google, G-Research, Jane Street, Goldman, CERN. Led by Frank Hutter, advised by Bernhard Schölkopf and Yann LeCun. Comp competitive with top AI labs.
All roles: https://priorlabs.ai/careers
I'm Nick, CTO & co-founder. We're Rippling, but for insurance carriers paying their sales force. Every policy sold triggers a chain of payouts across brokers, agents, and sub-agents. Today that runs on spreadsheets and legacy vendor systems and tomorrow they'll run on Chestnut. Nationwide and other major carriers have already made the switch.
Revenue is up 8x in the last year. We're backed by a16z. Founding team came out of leadership at Ethos (insuretech that recently IPO'd in January).
The work is state-heavy and correctness-critical: payouts that must reconcile with finance to the cent, dynamic agent hierarchies, retries, chargebacks, partial failures. These systems move real money and cannot drift.
You'll design schemas, build backend logic, ship UI, deploy, and own the sharp edges that show up with real enterprise customers.
Stack: Go, TypeScript/React, Postgres, Temporal, Kubernetes, AWS. We use AI aggressively and expect you to as well.
We're looking for 3–6 years on real product systems. You're thoughtful about invariants and failure modes.
