FullStory | Sr iOS Engineer | Atlanta or REMOTE (US) | https://www.fullstory.com/
FullStory for Mobile Apps is an analytics/session replay framework that records the app's draw calls - omitting anything that is potentially private - then allows the sessions to be analyzed and replayed in our web app.
It helps our customers narrow down where their users are getting stuck, and what steps reproduce bugs and edge cases.
Our mobile codebase has shared code written in Rust, and then iOS code in Objective-C and Android code in Java. On the server/web side, we use Go to process the data and TypeScript for the web app.
We're looking for one more engineer with deep knowledge of iOS to help us continue iterating and improving.
As one of my co-workers put it:
> Work on state-of-the-art recording of iOS apps to provide a rich, privacy-respecting analytics experience. Reverse engineer iOS frameworks to learn how they work and how they can be used efficiently. Use low level capabilities of the Objective-C runtime to solve problems unique to iOS.
You can also see our team manager's post from the other month for another take on things: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24969524
I'm one of the engineers on the team; if you have any question, feel free to comment here or email me directly: nathan@[company site]. If you'd just like to apply, please use the link below.
The company as a whole is awesome. Hands-down my favorite job in my ~15 year career. Smart, humble people. A focus on empathy, clarity, and "bionics" (e.g. automation, but more than just that). Competitive pay and solid benefits paired with a great work-life balance. And more than just "remote friendly", FullStory strives to be "remote equal". (We were about 20% remote last year, it's more like 80-90% now.) Check out https://bwamp.me/ for one example of that.

Select Star | Rust Engineer | Remote and Full-time
Rust Engineer - SQL Parsing
Select Star is a data catalog & management tool that solves data discovery problems inside organizations. Many data scientists and business analysts spend too much time looking for the right data, usually by asking other people, because data context in most companies amounts to tribal knowledge. Select Star is uniquely good at helping you understand your data - what data you have, where it lives, how it's structured, and how it's being used.
Qualities we’re looking for:
- 3+ years of experience of working as a backend or full-stack engineer - Self-starter with great communication skills - Comfortable working rapidly and independently - Experience with Rust required (example projects a plus) - Experience with (or interest in) parsing a plus - Experience working with SQL, BI / Analytics tools, and data platform tools is a plus
LOCATION: Fully remote. Working hours must overlap with Pacific time 9am-12pm.
ESTIMATED COMPENSATION: market rate, junior to mid level.
VISA: No
CONTACT: Find more details and apply here: https://jobs.getselectstar.com/
ENLYZE | Reverse- and Systems Engineer Rust + C++ | Cologne, Germany | Full Time
At ENLYZE, we are working hard to give everyone in manufacturing the data they need to make their best decisions. We do so by bridging the gap between what was planned in ERP and MES systems and what really happened on the shop floor. Doing so, our customers can explore their shop floor data based on single production orders, compare performance between products and perform root cause analysis.
One of our major efforts is to implement as many PLC integrations as possible to make our product work out of the box without any prerequisites. Currently, we are looking for a capable reverse / systems engineer to join our machine integration team. Within that team, you will be responsible for extending our current range of PLC integrations, oftentimes reverse engineering your way through different protocols.
Our main application is written in Rust, but as most of the industry is still running on legacy Windows systems (Yes, we've encountered NT 4.0), C++ and Windows knowledge is definitely a major plus. Also, as most of the systems we encounter have German as their system language, we believe that this position requires a solid knowledge of German.
We don't require you to be on site, but you should be able and willing to travel to customer sites to connect appliances and do recon.
Instead of an application, we thought that a reverse engineering puzzle / challenge might be more suited for you: https://storage.googleapis.com/enlyze-challenge/challenge_fi...
Rust backend & Javascript / Typescript | Urvin AI | Remote (US, Berlin, Barcelona) | Contract-to-Hire | https://urvin.ai
We are looking to hire two junior developers. The first position is working exclusively with Rust (with potentially some Kotlin), and focused on developing tooling, testing our natural language engine, and helping to write backend services to interact with it. The second one is focused on frontend work, producing product/functionality demonstrations and working on client projects. We have used React before, but are open to Vue or Svelte. Typescript would be great to have.
You will help us build out our natural language understanding product, Urvin.Discover. Urvin.Discover is a high-performance language engine that is uniquely able to understand the ambiguity, context and nuance of unstructured data. Urvin.Discover is currently used primarily in the legal and finance industries for specialized document understanding, and document search and discovery. For the Rust position you should have prior experience with Rust, but not necessarily in a production environment. If you love rust, dabble with it in your free time and show some code on github we are happy. For the frontend position you should be similarly be able to show some of your work using your favourite stack.
These are contract-to-hire roles. After 3-6 months, we’d like to make each position full-time, with benefits, depending on your location.
Stack: Rust, Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Svelta, Vue.js, RocksDB
Location: We are a 100% remote team, primarily located in Central Europe. You should be able to attend online meetings at 5pm (CET, UTC+01) at least once a week, and have at least 6 hours overlap with our core working hours (9am to 5pm UTC+01).
Contact: If you are interested or want to know more, get in touch at jobs [at] urvin [dot] ai / https://urvin.ai/careers

## About Us
Symmetry Investments is a post startup USD 7 billion + alternative asset management company with around 220 people across multiple time zones and locations.
Our core technology team has been remote first for some time, and the whole company is following suit, post-COVID.
I'm one of the three people running the firm, responsible amongst other things for technology across the firm and I’m posting this myself. That should give you an idea both about how seriously we take technology and the culture of the firm.
We are three years into a period of transformation from what was initially a fairly standard enterprise finance technology approach to something new that recognises the importance of both the humane and the technical for discretionary portfolio management and for the business of running an alternative investment manager. Andrei Alexandrescu (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es6U7WAlKpQ) and Atila Neves (https://dlang.org/blog/2019/10/15/my-vision-of-ds-future/) have been working with us as long-term consultants and we have many other talented people with lower public profiles.
It's not easy to integrate practitioners who may spend most of their day programming, but are oriented towards solving business problems, with developers who are specialists in programming. To achieve this, we wrote a little functional DSL that's now in production. Type inference of returns and parameters using inequality constraints is in a feature branch and there is plenty more to do on the language itself as well as the ecosystem around it. SIL can compile and call C++ and D at runtime; Python interop is in alpha; and C# is on the way. What might be a project in itself elsewhere can be just a set of functions in Symmetry Integration Language.
The language is written in D, we hosted dconf last year and will do so again this year. So we are looking for outstanding native code developers who would like to write D as well as people to work with practitioners writing Symmetry Integration Language. Also looking for people to write documentation and work on the build.
It's quite a creative place where we encourage a degree of courage amidst practical constraints, and we are open to doing things a different way if it's commercially sound and in the interests of our investors.
We look for virtues and capabilities over only experience and credentials although those things aren't a disadvantage. Do not let a lack of credentials or qualifications prevent you from applying. We've recently hired experts with C++, Common Lisp, D, Haxe, Julia and Perl backgrounds, and are happy to bring them up to speed with the tools we use.
Compensation is currently not quite at Netflix standards but is generous to very generous over time by broad technology industry standards. We recognise and reward technical accomplishment and have a very flat structure - don't be surprised if our founder and CIO starts asking you questions about your work.

Consensys | Senior Ethereum Developer/Researcher | Remote | Full-time preferred
Magmo is a 100% remote team at Consensys Mesh, focusing on Ethereum state channels research and implementation. State channels (https://statechannels.org/) are a L2 blockchain scaling tool that enables peers to execute many blockchain transactions involving a fixed set of peers, at a fixed cost -- after some initial setup, transactions only involve network messaging. We previously released Web3torrent as a proof of concept (previous discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23602008) and are currently collaborating with The Graph to implement state channels on a large scale on mainnet (https://thegraph.com/blog/the-graph-brings-state-channels-to...).
We're currently hiring a full stack developer, though we will happily consider any candidate with an appropriate background and a keen interest in our project. Our stack includes Typescript, PostgreSQL, Solidity, Rust, and React. We've also used TLA+ for some formal verification (https://blog.statechannels.org/breaking-state-channels/), and aim to use more tools to verify our protocols and implementations.
Full time employment is preferred, though many of our team work part-time, and we are open to flexible working arrangements.
See our job posting at https://consensys.net/open-roles/2510553/, or email me directly (andrew DOT stewart [at] mesh DOT xyz) if you have any questions.

oso | Software Engineer, Developer Advocate, & Eng Manager | New York City (NYC) | Onsite or Remote
oso (backed by Sequoia) puts security in the hands of the makers. We're doing this by delivering security as code, or as Charity Majors (cofounder & CTO of Honeycomb) put it, "Consumer-quality developer tools" for security (https://twitter.com/mipsytipsy/status/1288326027001782273) – beginning with an open source policy engine for authorization.
We open sourced oso last summer, and the feedback has been amazing. We are hiring folks who want shave down the time developers have to spend thinking about things like roles and route authorization. We spend the bulk of our time building the oso policy language, Polar, and libraries on top of it. We are building the product in Rust, which we think is both a good design choice for our use case and a fun choice for the team. The team members who join now not only have a disproportionately large impact on the product and the community, but also on the culture and future of the company.
We are based in NYC and hiring folks remote or onsite.
