NREC, a robotics research and development powerhouse, is looking for experienced developers, especially in embedded systems, robotics, perception, deep learning, data science, and AI. For more than 25 years NREC has brought together a critical mass of software and hardware engineers to take technology from the laboratory to the real world. NREC maintains a diverse portfolio of projects, from Augmented Reality driver assistance to full off-road autonomy and from advanced teleoperation to full autonomous manipulation. We are part of the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, focused on commercialization of robotic technologies, and employ over 160 people in our off-campus facility.
If you have questions about NREC or are interested in any position, contact our recruiter Christine DeCarolis (cdecarolis@nrec.ri.cmu.edu). In your communication, please mention Hacker News.
Carnegie Mellon University | Remote friendly, Pittsburgh, PA | Junior or Entry-level Software Engineer | Open Source
We are looking to add a front-end React/TypeScript software engineer to our team that is leading the development of our open source learning engineering platform. This person would have the opportunity to learn Elixir/Phoenix and thus be able to contribute to the entire system development.
The Torus platform (https://github.com/Simon-Initiative/oli-torus) is rapidly growing and gaining attention in the EdTech and Corporate training spaces. Over the past year and a half the development effort has grown from just our small team here at CMU to one now involving multiple partner organizations (both corporate and academic). The project receives code contributions from several different countries and continents on a daily basis.
CMU benefits are legendary, including the ability to take classes - and even pursue an advanced graduate degree - for free.
